Lowe’s CEO on navigating coronavirus, next steps

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Lowe’s Cos. Inc. CEO Marvin Ellison knows the home-improvement retailer has an essential role in the fight against the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19.

The Mooresville-based company has 300,000 employees on the front lines, helping provide key products and services to the community, first responders and businesses. And it’s looking to hire 30,000 more employees to fill those needs.

Lowe’s declined to share specific sales information but says it hasn’t seen a sharp move in the overall business at this point — either positive or negative. The retailer is financially backing coronavirus relief efforts, with $100 million pledged to date.
