HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Lowes Foods’ new concept store looks to reshape the grocery-shopping experience.
The 25,000-square-foot store opened in Huntersville on Friday morning. It’s at 14021 Boren St., formerly home to Earth Fare.
It’s about 50% smaller than a traditional Lowes Foods store, but it packs a complete shopping experience and a plethora of special features into that space.
The store is the first of its kind for the Winston-Salem-based grocer. Innovation is at the heart of this new, small-format model. It incorporates a number of store-within-store concepts that fit the market, with daily staples, Lowe adds.
“We do believe there is a space and place for a smaller-size store that allows us to bring a whole different set of uniqueness to communities — though we are not small in variety,” says Tim Lowe, president of Lowes Foods.
