CONCORD, N.C. — A major intersection in Concord was shut down while crews responded to a water main break that happened Wednesday afternoon.
On Thursday morning, a Channel 9 crew could see Highway 29, which is Concord Parkway, had reopened after the incident. Pitts School Road remained closed east of Concord Parkway.
After the water main is fixed, people in the area could have discolored water. Officials said to run water from the tap until it becomes clear again and it will be safe to drink.
On Wednesday, police shut down the intersection of Concord Parkway and Pitts School Road as water crews worked to isolate the break. A portion of Pitts School Road near Jay M. Robinson High School will be shut down for days, officials said.
Workers contracted through Google Fiber caused the pipe to break, officials told our partners at the Independent Tribune.

Cabarrus County Schools said it re-routed some buses around the area Wednesday.
