Man accused of killing SouthPark realtor charged with jail escape

CHARLOTTE — The man whom police say killed a SouthPark realtor tried to escape from the Mecklenburg County Jail.

That’s according to new arrest documents.

Brandon Braxton was charged with escaping from local jail. Court records say in late August, he walked out of his cell, went up to the podium, slammed computer monitors, and walked out of the pod he was in.

An emergency “All Call” was made, and he was caught and taken back to his cell.

Braxton is charged with stabbing Whitney Hurd to death.

Police found her body in her SouthPark townhome in July of 2024.

Braxton is being held on no bond.
