LINCOLNTON, N.C. — A man accused of soliciting a child was also found to have a replica of the car used in the “Men in Black” movie and was found to dress as a character from the movie, officials said in a news release.
Michael Robert Geressy was arrested Friday for soliciting a child for sex act by a computer, according to the Lincolnton Police Department.
Detectives conducted an undercover sting operation involving Geressy communicating with detectives posing as a 14-year-old child on social media.
During the operation and investigation, Geressy discussed meeting with the 14-year-old child in Lincolnton to engage in sexual activity, police said.
When Geressy arrived at the predetermined meeting location, he was subsequently arrested without incident by detectives.
Upon being arrested by detectives, Geressy was found to be driving a 1987 Ford Crown Victoria, an exact replica of the car used in the “Men in Black” movie, officials said. The car had emergency light equipment as well as after-market toggle switches to accurately replicate the movie car, officials said.
Also, the car had in the back seat the exact match of the New York license plate of the car.
Additionally, Geressy was wearing a black suit with a black tie and wearing black sunglasses, just as the characters wore in the movie.
After further investigation, investigators found out that Geressy also has an exact replica of the vehicle used in the movie "Ghostbusters" and an exact replica of the vehicle used in the movie "The Blues Brothers." Geressy had replica costumes from these movies.
The investigation determined that Geressy used the cars and costumes as part of a business, which he is available for entertaining for parties.
Geressy is employed as an instructor at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Charlotte.
He met with school leaders Monday and agreed to leave the school pending the results of the investigation, school officials told Channel 9.
"There is no indication the allegations had anything to do with the school or students in any way," school officials said in a statement.
Investigators considered this information relevant in the fact that the suspect may have been in contact with other potential underage victims in the past.
The investigation determined Geressy used the alias of "Doc Geressy" in these encounters while in "character."
This case is still under investigation, and further charges may apply.
Geressy was taken in front of a Lincoln County Magistrate and was officially charged with one felony count of soliciting a child for an unlawful sex act and appearing to meet the child.
Geressy was given a $75,000 secured bond and placed in the Lincoln County Jail. He has since made bond and had his first court appearance Monday in Lincoln County District Court.
Channel 9 stopped by his house Tuesday, but he didn’t want to comment.
Neighbors told Channel 9, “It really scares me because my kids get on the internet.”
Geressy has no prior criminal record
