HICKORY, N.C. — Police have arrested a man accused of robbing a CVS Pharmacy in Hickory and then, leading officers on a chase Monday afternoon.
It started just before 2 p.m. at the CVS on 12th Avenue.
Authorities said the suspect came into the store and with a gun, demanded money from the register.
After the suspect left CVS, officers learned he was driving a red Mustang with Georgia plates. Police eventually found the Mustang but it didn’t stop, leading Hickory Police, Caldwell County deputies and North Carolina state troopers on a chase.
The chase ended when the suspect crashed near the Hickory Regional Airport.
Lester Lackey, 29, was charged with robbery with firearms or other dangerous weapons and speeding to elude arrest.
He is being held at the Catawba County Detention under a $30,000 bond.
No one was injured during the robbery or chase.
