Man arrested after shooting at tanker truck during highway dispute

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — A Vale man is facing a felony charge after deputies said he fired a gun into a tanker truck during a road rage incident on Highway 27 West.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened Tuesday, involving a tanker truck and a passenger vehicle.

Detectives identified the passenger vehicle believed to be involved, and deputies later conducted a traffic stop.

Marty Edgar Fredell, 56, was taken into custody without incident and charged with felony discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle.

Fredell was initially held without bond. On Wednesday, he was granted a $150,000 secured bond and has since been released from custody.
