BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — Burke County Public Safety officers have arrested a man accused of trying to run over another man with his dune buggy.
David Beane, a Morganton resident, was arrested in connection with a disturbance that occurred near the Food Lion store on East Union Street.
Authorities say that Beane had been pursuing a relationship with a local woman. The woman’s boyfriend confronted Beane behind the Food Lion and warned him to stay away. During the confrontation, Beane allegedly attempted to run the boyfriend over with his dune buggy. The boyfriend fled into the wooded area behind the store, with Beane following on foot while carrying a firearm. Despite searching the area, Beane did not locate the individual.
Upon arrival, police found Beane near his dune buggy. Beane attempted to leave by backing the vehicle toward an officer. Beane eventually surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. A firearm was recovered from the dune buggy.
Brian David Beane has been charged with resisting, delaying, and obstructing law enforcement officers, second-degree trespass, assault on a government official and carrying a concealed weapon.
