CHARLOTTE — A 31-year-old man was arrested after police found a car with multiple guns and live ammunition Tuesday on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte.
According to an affidavit obtained by Channel 9, officers located the vehicle parked on N. Summit Ave. in a campus parking lot assigned to the university’s baseball field. Officers saw a rifle case sitting in the back seat with a rifle magazine visible in an open pocket.
The officers searched the vehicle and found a loaded handgun inside the driver-side door pocket. Police found a rifle with multiple magazines, including one consisting of 300 Blackout Orange Tip rounds. Officers also found a Glock bag containing multiple handgun accessories and additional magazines filled with live 9mm rounds.
After the vehicle was towed, the owner called police to report his car stolen. He said “he parked at the location around 2:30 p.m. to commute to work and returned ... and noticed his vehicle gone.”
The owner was identified as X’Orion Richmond.
During the conversation with officers, Richmond admitted that the recovered firearms belonged to him.
Richmond was charged with possession of a firearm on educational property. He was held on a $2,000 bond as of Wednesday morning.
