IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A man accused of murdering an 80-year-old man in Statesville is facing new charges.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said Mark Pinkerton was charged Friday with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony first-degree burglary.
Investigators said the new charges stem from the murder of Hugh Lee Moose, who was shot and killed in his home on Shiloh Road on Jan. 10, 2017.
Pinkerton was charged in Moose’s death on April 25 of this year.

Investigators said the evidence now indicates Pinkerton was at the home to rob Moose for drug money.
Officials said Pinkerton forced his way into Moose’s home. They said after the shooting he took cash from Moose’s wallet, fled the scene and left the state.
Pinkerton was arrested in Pennsylvania, where investigators said he has a lengthy criminal history.
