CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have charged a third teenage suspect in the shooting death of an 18-year-old in northeast Charlotte in December.

On Thursday, police said they arrested Donte Shamar Jones, 18, for his involvement in the murder of Jan Mario Ramirez Andino. They charged him with murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Investigators said he was already in jail for unrelated charges when they served the arrest warrants.

In January, detectives said they arrested 19-year-old Ka’ron Markess Commander and 18-year-old Cameron Isiah Hargrove on Jan. 13.

Police said they responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call around 6 a.m. on Dec. 23. They found Andino inside an apartment on Deergreen Lane, off Pavilion Boulevard near University City Boulevard and Interstate 485. He had been shot and paramedics said he died from his injuries.

Commander and Hargrove were charged with first degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon with intention to kill.

The investigation into this case is still active and ongoing.
