Man sentenced to probation after conviction in Charlotte immigration protest

CHARLOTTE — A man convicted of assaulting a federal officer during an immigration crackdown in Charlotte has been sentenced to one year of probation.

William Stanley was convicted last month for his interaction with federal agents during a protest outside the Department of Homeland Security building.

The protest took place during Operation Charlotte’s Web, an immigration enforcement operation in the city.

In addition to probation, Stanley must complete 50 hours of community service and pay a fine.

Heather Morrow was also convicted in connection with the incident but has not yet been sentenced.
