Man shot during neighbor noise dispute at Monroe apartments

MONROE, N.C. — A shooting at Woodbrook Apartments stemmed from an ongoing noise dispute between two neighbors Tuesday morning, according to the Monroe Police Department. Officers responded to the complex at approximately 8:24 a.m.

Criminal investigators determined the incident escalated when the man who was shot allegedly brandished a firearm first. The second neighbor then retrieved his own firearm and shot him.

Responding officers located the wounded man and rendered aid immediately, applying a tourniquet before ensuring he received medical treatment. Police said he is expected to survive his injuries.

The second individual involved in the shooting remained at Woodbrook Apartments, was cooperative with officers, and was detained at the scene.

No charges have been filed as investigators continue to review evidence and determine next steps.

The Monroe Police Department said it will release additional information as it becomes available and as appropriate to the ongoing investigation.
