Man shot, killed on front porch of southeast Charlotte home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police in southeast Charlotte are investigating an overnight shooting that left a 20-year-old man dead.

Officers were called to Billingsley Road, about a block from the Providence Division station.

Police found Ronald Martin shot on the front porch of a home.

Medic arrived on the scene and pronounced Martin dead.

Police are looking for witnesses and have not released any information on a possible suspect.

Channel 9 looked into Martin's past and found he was arrested in January for attempted murder and spent about a month in jail.

Martin's cousins said those allegations were not true. They said they don't think that charge and this crime are connected.
