Man shot, killed in Gastonia; suspect in custody, police say

GASTONIA, N.C. — A man was shot and killed Tuesday night in Gastonia, police tweeted.

The shooting happened in the 900 block of West Airline Avenue at Gaston Avenue, and the victim died at the hospital.

The initial call came into dispatch at about 7:30 p.m. and an officer found Crawford lying in the road. Robinson was standing on a nearby porch holding a handgun.

Elijah Kevon Robinson, 21, of Lancaster, is in custody and charged with first-degree murder in Lamar Fitzgerald Crawford’s death, police said.

No further information has been released.
