CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said a man and a woman went inside the QuikTrip Express on Clanton Road Sunday when a person stole their 2016 F150 pickup truck.

Police said the couple's sons, ages 9 and 13 years old, were left in the running truck when a black man in his 20s, wearing a gray jacket and blue jeans, jumped into the truck and fled.

The man is described as medium build with a short afro haircut. The truck has a North Carolina license plate EHL-1426.

Police said the 9-year-old immediately jumped out of the truck and the 13-year-old jumped out a short time later. The vehicle was traveling down South Tryon Street.

No one was injured, police said.
