CHARLOTTE — If you’re using online reviews to decide whether to buy, don’t trust everything you read.
Consumers are being paid or given products for free for leaving online reviews, but can you trust their critique of the products? Channel 9 found that many reviews are fake, and the products are never even tested.
“I’m amazed at the flood of information that comes at us every day and how much of it is sketchy or suspicious,” said Dr. Cori Faklaris with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
We’ll show you how to spot the fake reviews before you spend your hard-earned money. The story is at 5 p.m. Thursday on Channel 9.
