CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Some families were allowed back in their apartments Friday after a massive tree crashed into a building nearby.

The tree fell on the building at Abby Place Apartments Thursday just as storms started rolling through.

Nobody was hurt, but fire crews evacuated between 20 and 25 people.

"It wasn't windy that much and there hadn't been a lot of rain at that point," said neighbor Billy Lomac.

Crews were concerned that another tree right next to the toppled one could also fall over, so they evacuated another building nearby.

Friday crews cut that tree down, eliminating the risk.
