CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mecklenburg County Commissioners approved the Frito-Lay business investment program grant on Tuesday night for $2.1 million over 5 years to expand their plant in southwest Charlotte.

The City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County will give $3.3 million total.
In return, Frito-Lay will spend up to $74 million for the expansion that will create 30 new jobs with a $50,000 average salary.
"The proposed investment at the Charlotte facility would upgrade the site to include high-technology equipment that combines its manufacturing operations with on-site distribution," said John Irwin, Vice President of Supply Chain for the Carolinas region.
