CHARLOTTE — American Legion Memorial Stadium will be the stage for Charlotte’s newest race, the Meck Mile.
The Meck Mile will feature several races for different ages and will be open to everyone. It will be held from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. on May 25, 2024.
The Memorial Day Weekend event will start with two laps outside the recently renovated 86-year-old stadium and end at midfield, with opportunities for walkers and runners ranging from recreational to highly competitive.
Participants will experience a lively course featuring music activations, highlighted by a finish line festival on the field.
“The Meck Mile fits into our mission of bringing high-profile sporting events to Charlotte that add to the quality of life,” said Danny Morrison, president of the Charlotte Sports Foundation.

The Meck Mile is sponsored by the Albemarle Corporation, globally headquartered in Charlotte’s SouthPark neighborhood.

The tentative schedule for the event includes group starts for walkers and recreational runners and heats for competitive runners. To complete the evening, the Charlotte Sports Foundation plans on an hour of showcase races featuring elite local and national runners competing in front of spectators.
