MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — The man who stepped down as Mecklenburg County tax assessor amid the revaluation controversy has been reassigned to a new position with a lower salary.
The county manager saod Garrett Alexander's new title is senior fiscal analyst in the finance department. His salary is $98,500.
As tax assessor, he was making more than $122,000.
Alexander resigned in November. Homeowners complained about inaccurate appraisals that drove up property taxes.
