CHARLOTTE — A Mecklenburg County grant program’s deadline has been extended to help homeowners who are struggling with the rising costs of living.
The HOMES program offers qualifying residents grants up to $340 that help to reduce the cost of annual homeownership.
There is no age requirement for the program and the home does not have to be paid off.

Eligible residents must have lived in their Mecklenburg County home for a least the last three years, have no more than one delinquent tax bill in the last three years, and meet a qualifying total household income level. Click here for a complete list of eligibility requirements.
“The HOMES program still has funds available for qualified homeowners,” said Yulonda Griffin, Department of Community Resources Director. “We changed the deadline from Oct. 31 to Nov. 19 because we want to see as many people as possible get the help they need.”
The application can be summitted by mail or email, and must be submitted and postmarked by Nov. 19, 2021. Applications without 2020 income verification will not able to be processed.
