Mecklenburg County Sheriff Gary McFadden announces intent to run for reelection

CHARLOTTE — Mecklenburg County Sheriff Gary McFadden has announced he is running for reelection in 2026, he said on social media.

McFadden assumed office in 2018 and won reelection in 2022.

McFadden uploaded a poster that says “Re-Elect 2026″ to his Facebook page but said nothing else.

Former Chief Deputy Rodney Collins, former detention officer Antwain Nance, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Sgt. Ricky Robbins are also running for sheriff.
