Charlotte-area standouts heading to Super Bowl with Philadelphia Eagles

CHARLOTTE — Two former high school football standouts from the Charlotte area are heading to the Super Bowl.

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Commanders 55-23 on Sunday afternoon in the NFC Championship Game with two former area standouts leading the way.

Weddington’s Will Shipley scored a touchdown late in the 4th quarter and rushed for 77 yards. Mallard Creek’s Jordan Davis had four tackles and a sack this postseason.

Shipley will make his first Super Bowl appearance and Davis will make his second.
