Autopsy shows man killed during uptown protests was shot in head

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The medical examiner released the autopsy report on Justin Carr, who was shot and killed during the protests in uptown Charlotte.

It shows he died from a gunshot wound to the head resulting in severe injury to the brain. The toxicology report was also released on Carr and found there was no alcohol in his system.

Police used surveillance cameras from outside the Omni Hotel to identify Rayquan Borum as the man who shot Carr outside the Omni Hotel.

Protests broke out in Charlotte in September in the wake of the fatal police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott, 43.

Scott was shot by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Officer Brentley Vinson.

The State Bureau of Investigation is still investigating the officer-involved shooting.
