CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A rezoning petition filed earlier this month with the city of Charlotte suggests mixed-use development could be coming to a vacant parcel near Whitehall Corporate Center.
American Asset Corp., whose holdings include office and retail buildings at Whitehall, filed a rezoning to allow a mix of uses, like apartments, some retail and office space, and a hotel, on a portion of a site currently undeveloped in Whitehall. It sits between Whitehall Parc Apartment Homes and Topgolf off West Arrowood Road.

In a site plan filed with the petition, the proposed development is described as Moody Lake Rezoning, named for a body of water that’s on part of the property.
The rezoning calls for up to 352 apartments and a 308-room hotel along with up to 20,000 square feet of commercial space. A new internal street network is proposed for the site, with buildings lining the roads.
