MATTHEWS, N.C. — Road crews worked on Monroe Road eastbound between Galleria Boulevard and Industrial Drive in Matthews during rush hour Thursday afternoon.
The area was reduced to one lane, causing traffic backups.
Matthews police said it was not a scheduled road closure and have not said what the work was for.
