MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Mooresville-based Pink Energy closed its “doors completely and permanently” in September, according to a letter to employees published by an Indiana television station.
About one month later, the company filed for bankruptcy, according to court records.

The company had laid off 1,100 employees, about half of its workforce, since May. Those layoffs followed a raft of complaints about its solar installations that company CEO Jayson Waller blamed on a defective operating system provided by partner Generac Holdings Inc.
Pink Energy, formerly known as PowerHome Solar, has sued Generac over the alleged failures in federal court.
