CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Firefighters were able to put out a fire that broke out at a south Charlotte home early Wednesday morning.
Charlotte fire crews were called to the home on Laurel Grove Lane, near Johnston Road, just before 5:30 a.m.
Officials said two women live at the home and another man was staying there as well.
According to the chief, the women were woken up by their dog barking and saw the porch was on fire. The man spending the night was able to use a garden hose to put out the fire on the porch, but by that time the flames had already spread through the ceiling into the attic.

More than two dozen firefighters were able to control everything in less than 10 minutes and no one was injured.
Nobody will be able to stay at the house Wednesday night due to heavy smoke damage and a hole in the roof. The Red Cross has been contacted to help.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
