Four charged following deadly shooting in Morganton

MORGANTON, N.C. — The Morganton Department of Public Safety investigated a deadly shooting that took place early Sunday morning.

Officers heard gunshots coming from the area of West Union Street and Hillside Lane around 1 a.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found a person lying face down in the roadway. That victim succumbed to their injuries.

Part of West Union Street was closed while MDPS, along with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, processed the scene.

Four people were taken into custody as a result of the investigation.

Kevon Mack, 18, is charged with murder and is being held held under no bond. Braxton Collins, 19, is charged with obstruction of justice, discharging a firearm in city limits and was given a $25,000 secured bond. Justice Raab, 20, and Ayanna Parridgen, 19, are both charged with obstruction of justice and are being held under $20,000 secured bond.
