Mother gives shout out to CMPD officer for making daughter's day

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte mother wants to thank a particular police officer for taking the time to make her daughter’s day each morning.

Emily Barrowclough told Channel 9 that her 2-year-old daughter, Brennan, waves and greets Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer Scott DelDuca every morning outside Charlotte Christian School, on her way to daycare.

She said the interactions last less than 10 seconds but that DelDuca always takes the time to wave back and return her smile. He even went so far as to pop a teddy bear in her car seat last Monday, which Brennan has fallen in love with.

Barrowclough said she just wanted to recognize an officer who she describes as going above and beyond consistently for those he does not even know.

“Our interactions last maybe eight seconds,” she told Channel 9. “Even with that minute time, he has imprinted on my daughter that police officers are trustworthy, kind and want to keep us safe.”
