HICKORY, N.C. — Police officers returned to the scene of a shooting on Monday morning, where several homes and cars were hit in northeast Hickory.

There were more than a dozen rounds that were fired Sunday morning along 20th Street Northeast.

Police went door to door on Monday, asking residents for surveillance video. They also collected more shell casings to put into evidence bags.

They said a car left the scene and hope to identify it soon.

In a grainy video, three people were in the yard when more than a dozen rounds rang out.

Nataly Borquez showed Channel 9’s Dave Faherty where one round after another struck her home.

She said her two-week-old, a toddler, and her mother were sleeping inside.

“I don’t want to go through that again,” she said. “I have a newborn in my house and a toddler, so it’s pretty scary. And my mom was sleeping right here.”

Next door, gunfire struck another home, damaging a refrigerator. Outside, multiple cars were hit.

Three doors down, a round went into a bedroom with a couple sleeping inside, damaging their ceiling.

“We were lying there asleep, and next thing you know, we hear gunshots,” said the neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified. “My wife said she felt something hit her head and it was sheet rock off the ceiling.”

Jordan Pickens heard 10-15 shots and hopes police find the people responsible and learn why they did it.

“Thank the lord nobody got hurt in this instance, but it’s a scary reminder, just how someone can take something out on somebody else, and it can affect everybody in the neighborhood,” said Pickens.

No one was injured.

Police stepped up patrols in the area.
