IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A local NAACP president and an elementary school teacher were both killed in a head on crash.
One car crossed the center line of US 64 near Barry Oak Road in Iredell County Tuesday afternoon.
Woody Woodard was in the car. He and the driver of the other car, Brenda Laxton, both died.
Woodard was just honored with the NAACP's life membership award.
Laxton was a kindergarten assistant at Cool Spring Elementary School.
