CONOVER, N.C. — The National Guard 626th Support Maintenance Company headquartered in Hickory was deployed Friday to the Middle East.

About 130 troops will provide maintenance support for Brigade Combat Teams while overseas.
In the video at the top of this webpage, reporter Dave Faherty was in Conover where the community gathered for a patriotic send-off.
The National Guard company also has a detachment in Newton.
