NC astronaut Christina Koch reflects on historic all-female spacewalk

Members of the historic all-female spacewalk are speaking out about the experience.

Astronauts Jessica Meir and Christina Koch, who graduated from NC State, spent seven hours replacing a battery outside the International Space Station last week.

Koch arrived at the Space Station on March 14 and will stay there until February 2020.

Koch said it was her chance to recognize those who came before her.

"Those that paved the way for us to be where we are today, we just have the upmost appreciation for them and I think we just pay homage to the fact that they allowed us to do what we do today and to achieve the dreams that we have," Koch said.

When she is done, she will hold the record for the longest space flight by a woman.
