NC By Train modifies October schedules for major regional events

NC By Train will adjust its travel schedules in Oct. to accommodate high passenger traffic for the North Carolina State Fair, the Lexington Barbecue Festival, and a Carolina Panthers game.

The schedule adjustments include added stops and modified departure times for rail travel between Oct. 15 and Oct. 25.

Tickets for all modified routes are currently available at NCByTrain.org.

For opening day of the North Carolina State Fair on Oct. 15, NC By Train will make three stops at the fairgrounds in Raleigh.

From Oct. 16 through Oct. 25, trains will make five stops daily at the fairgrounds. Arrival and departure times will vary slightly on Oct. 24 and Oct. 25 due to other events. Passengers must select station code “NSF” when booking tickets to and from the fair.

Special service will also be available for the 42nd Annual Lexington Barbecue Festival on Oct. 24. NC By Train will make eight stops at the Lexington Hospitality Center at 29 North Railroad St., located one block from the festival. Passengers can use station code “LEX” to reserve tickets.

On Oct. 25, schedule changes will accommodate fans traveling to the 1 p.m. Carolina Panthers game in Charlotte. Piedmont Train 73 will depart Raleigh Union Station at an earlier time of 8:40 a.m. to arrive in Charlotte at 11:55 a.m. For the return trip, Piedmont Train 76 will depart Charlotte at 5:30 p.m.
