NORTH CAROLINA — Gov. Pat McCrory's wife has taken a stand in the fight against puppy mills in North Carolina.
Ann McCrory said Wednesday she wants puppy mills stopped in the state before they start.
She urged Senate members to pass a House bill that requires large commercial dog breeders to meet minimum standards of care.
The bill does not apply the kennels where most dogs are being bred or trained for hunting, sport or show.
