CHARLOTTE — North Carolina’s Labor Day Booze It and Lose It campaign led to more than 40,000 charges and 3,000 warnings.
The two-week State Highway Patrol initiative focused on driving while impaired, speeding, driving without a seatbelt and more.
From Aug. 31 through Sept. 13, troopers issued:
- 781 DWI charges
- 12,523 speeding charges
- 3,457 restraint violations
- 2,783 reckless driving charges
- 2,203 driving while license revoked charges
- 93 Move Over violations
- 4,572 commercial vehicle enforcement inspections
Troopers also say they responded to over 10,000 calls for service and investigated 4,169 crashes, including 19 that were fatal.
