CHARLOTTE — The North Carolina Retail Merchants Association is pushing back on a proposal for the NCDOT to help fund two new community grocery stores in west Charlotte.
That plan was part of the state’s push to get the I-77 South toll lane project revived.
But in a letter to the NCDOT, the Retail Merchants Association called funding the community stores a “dangerous precedent” that could hurt other grocery chains in the state.
The association called on the NCDOT to reconsider.
