Nearly 700 guns stolen from vehicles last year, CMPD says

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officials released new numbers showing nearly 700 guns were stolen from vehicles last year.

The report shows 12,186 larcenies from vehicles were reported during 2016 and of those, 688 guns were stolen.

Police said in some cases more than one gun was taken from the same vehicle.

At that time, more than 420 guns were stolen mostly from unlocked vehicles.
