CHARLOTTE, N.C. — City council decided to tear down the old Eastland Mall on Tuesday night.

The city will pay nearly $900,000 for the demolition.

Two other buildings on the same plot of land in east Charlotte will also be torn down.

One city councilman said this will make it easier to attract developers.

He said they would rather work with a clear site than have to make changes to an existing building.
