NEWTON, N.C. — Police in Newton are stepping up patrols in one neighborhood after someone fired several shots from a vehicle overnight.
Investigators say they have recovered video of that shooting showing someone in a white Jeep firing into the air along North Caldwell Avenue.
Police say no one was hurt and they don’t believe any homes were struck by the gunfire.
Neighbors were out Monday morning checking their homes to see if there was any damage.
“It’s just stupid…it’s ridiculous," neighbor James Creed said, “I don’t understand people today. This ain’t the world we should live in”
Police say they did find three shell casings in the road and believe at least four rounds were fired around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
