CHARLOTTE, N.C. — American Airlines has high hopes for its new route between Charlotte and Honolulu, so much so that the airline has extended the service ahead of its launch next month.

American Airlines Group Inc. over the weekend pushed the end date of that seasonal route from fall until winter, travel website The Points Guy reported this week. An American spokesman confirmed the flights are now scheduled to end Jan. 3, rather than Sept. 7 as originally planned.
