CHARLOTTE — Some have called Lincoln Harris’ newest uptown Charlotte office tower project one of the city’s worst-kept secrets. The firm’s president, Johno Harris, says, however, delaying the announcement was strategic.
600 South Tryon has been an active construction site for some months, but Lincoln Harris only officially announced the project this week. The newest phase of the firm’s Legacy Union development will be a 24-story, 415,000-square-foot office building at the corner of South Tryon Street and Brooklyn Village Avenue.
Harris told the Charlotte Business Journal that keeping plans under wraps, despite obvious on-site work, was done to ensure the project was 100% on track.

“It’s all about timing. We don’t want to announce anything until everything is complete and buttoned up and ready to go,” he said. “That’s how we like to do things, and we want to make sure there is certainty relative to the work we’re trying to do.”
The building is envisioned as the “big sister” to the neighboring tower at 650 S. Tryon St. It will include 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and podium parking, as well as conference, coworking and fitness spaces.
