All lanes on Interstate 77 southbound approaching Cherry Road are now open. However, beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, the right two lanes will close between mile markers 83 and 81.5 while crews patch bridge decks over Celanese Road and Cherry Road.
According to the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), the lanes are expected to reopen by 2 p.m. Monday.
SCDOT says drivers should expect similar weekend lane closures over the next few months as work on the bridges continues. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time or to use U.S. 21 as an alternate route.
