The U.S. Marshals Service collaborated with local law enforcement to track Armstrong and Camryn Moore across several state lines. State troopers eventually located their vehicle near Athens, Ohio, on Sept. 11, initiating a traffic stop that escalated into a pursuit across multiple counties.
The pursuit ended when the vehicle pulled onto the highway shoulder in an attempt to avoid spike strips. According to law enforcement, troopers heard two gunshots shortly after the collision.
In the body camera video, the trooper approaches the stopped vehicle along the highway and orders the occupants to put their hands outside the windows before the gunshots could be heard.
Troopers said it appears one suspect shot the other before taking their own life.
Investigators have not released a motive for the Gaston County shooting. There is no word on how the two survivors are doing.
