Nobody home when Shelby house goes up in flames, firefighters say

SHELBY, N.C. — A Shelby home was destroyed by flames after a fire broke out Wednesday morning.

When firefighters arrived at the house on Cherryville Road around 8:30 a.m. they reported huge flames shooting from the roof and windows.

According to Channel 9’s partners at the Shelby Star, the woman who lived at the home told firefighters she had recently left for work.

The brick house was deemed a total loss. Officials said nobody was home when the fire started.

Investigators are still trying to determine how the fire started.
