North Carolina counties work to save SNAP from potential fines

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Gaston County, along with two other counties in North Carolina, is working to help reduce the state’s error rate in administering the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

According to the Gaston Gazette, if the state fails to lower its error rate, it could face hundreds of millions of dollars in fines under a new federal law, potentially leading to the end of SNAP in North Carolina.
