CHARLOTTE — There are a lot of school bus drivers, nutrition workers and others who currently do not have permanent work because of remote learning.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials said the district has been doing what they can to find alternate work for those who need it. And though they’ve not furloughed any employees, they’ve identified about 2,000 employees facing that risk.

“CMS truly cares about those employees and their livelihood and we want to make sure that all of them continue to get paid,” said Charles Jeter, CMS policy administrator.
