BOONE, N.C. — A 21-year-old Statesville woman was killed Thursday afternoon in a crash on NC 105 in Watauga County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 3 p.m. near Dove Acres.
Troopers said Veronica Grace Virtue was driving a 2014 Mitsubishi south on NC 105 when she attempted to turn left into a private driveway and was hit by a northbound flatbed truck.

Virtue was taken to Watauga Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
The driver of the flatbed was not injured.
The initial investigation does not indicate that speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. No charges will be filed.
NC 105 was closed in the area for about an hour while troopers investigated.
